It appeared, two weeks ago, that there was a good chance that the Straight of Hormuz would reopen and the worst of a possible food emergency might be averted. The reality is: the planting season in the Northern Hemisphere is now. The fertilizer will not come, crops will not be planted and some crops that are planted will fail.

Meanwhile, scientists around the world are debating how strong an El Niño will form this summer. It is a pattern that is going to bring record heat, droughts, floods and powerful storms to the Fall harvest period.

Millions of people are facing severe food insecurity and possible starvation later this year. And the mainstream press, by reducing this threat to the potential of “higher food prices,” is utterly missing this story.

Always am grateful for Dr. Hansen's share of the true status quo.

God! We need men like him sounding the alarm and he is not an alarmist but a good, honest watchman.

I hope Agape Cool will help save many in the low lats as Earth 🔥.

That was a really illustrative read, thank you Dr. Hansen.

I have come across your work very recently, having previously only seen the more conservative and politically convenient models pushed in the mainstream. I must admit, the number of 4.8 degrees of warming that your article puts forward terrified me to the point of having to call in sick for work one day.

Yet, your research also puts forward that this number is not an irreversible apocalypse. As a young person living in India, I would love to learn more about how you think we can salvage a planet and a civilization going forward. It would be a great relief to know what hope and path forward there remains.

I come for facts no spin and it always validates my experiences. Truth is a precious rare commodity these days. Thank you for all you are doing to share the facts.

Will be interesting to see if your prediction of a record-breaker in 2026 comes true. You've been right before. But El Nino seems to be wavering a bit, and there are some extremely cold spots (SSTA) in the North Atlantic. What's that all about?

Below Greenland? Could be meltwater.

At least there’s one silver lining- With Trump’s Iran war now in its third month, countries are scrambling to circumvent the geopolitical tug of war by transitioning more quickly to renewables.

That allies grasp the existential imperative to bypass Trump’s destructive impulses is reassuring; it confirms that other nations, unlike the U.S., are not led by idiots.

Nah, limit is still 1.5C, but they'll borrow 1C, and pay back 1.5C later. Simple accounting.
